Prenatal and Postnatal Massage: A Relaxing Idea

Prenatal and postnatal massage ("PN massage") may provide safe and easy ways to help your body to relax and relieve the many discomforts of pregnancy.

Massage also promotes an improved sense of well-being before, during, and after the arrival of your new baby.

A massage therapist trained in the use of prenatal and postnatal massage techniques can provide a satisfying massage experience for any stage of pregnancy.

Many studies support the ability of massage to reduce stress hormones, relax and loosen your muscles, and reduce insomnia. All of these are common occurrences that may be encountered during and after your pregnancy.

Additional benefits to PN massage include reduced swelling in the hands, feet and ankles, lessened sciatic nerve pain, reduced neck and back pain, and fewer headaches. Massage strengthens  your  immune system by reducing stress hormones, promotes  your body's circulation, and improves joint flexibility.

Certain obstetric or medical conditions may occur during or after your pregnancy that may affect your ability to have a massage.

It is always recommended that you talk to a health care provider familiar with your obstetric circumstances to  ensure that massage will be best for you and your baby.

Please feel free to contact our office anytime to discuss any questions or concerns regarding prenatal massage.
